Mary B. Schaefer is a strategist, fundraiser and marketer who has served in multiple leadership and development roles in academia, business and non-profit organizations.
She has extensive experience in building and managing mission-driven initiatives; raising funds; engaging and cultivating a diverse base of stakeholders from individual philanthropists to corporate sponsors; building global recognition and impact; and developing and delivering innovative leadership programs and services.
Whether raising money, building membership or launching a new initiative, Mary is able to build a clear, convincing case to get the people and resources behind the organization so it can achieve its goals.
She spent 12 years at MIT, most recently as founding executive director of the MIT Leadership Center, where she engaged faculty and global leaders to build, fund and promote the organization worldwide, and oversaw the delivery of more than 60 innovative leadership courses a year. Mary joined the MIT Sloan School of Management as the director of communications, responsible for the school’s the global positioning and marketing strategy. She also served as director of MIT Sloan Corporate Relations, and has a strong track record in engaging corporations and non-profits to sponsor, fund and deliver programs and events.
